FAQ

Will my Vercel site go down if Vercel has an outage?
It depends on the type of outage. Static content cached at Vercel's edge may continue to be served even during platform issues. However, if the edge network itself is affected, or if your site relies on serverless functions or ISR, those dynamic features will be unavailable.
Can I deploy to Vercel during an outage?
No, new deployments require Vercel's build infrastructure and deployment pipeline. During an outage, builds will queue or fail. Your existing deployment will continue serving traffic as long as the edge network is operational. Wait for the incident to resolve before pushing new deployments.
Does a Vercel outage affect Next.js development?
Local Next.js development is not affected by Vercel outages since the development server runs on your machine. Only deployed applications on Vercel's infrastructure are impacted. If you use Vercel's remote caching or preview deployments, those features will be unavailable during an outage.
How does Vercel's edge network differ from traditional hosting?
Vercel distributes your application across a global edge network, meaning content is served from the data center closest to each visitor. This architecture provides some resilience during outages since a problem in one region may not affect others. Traditional hosting relies on a single origin server.
