Measured by FlareWarden's own checks of uhaul.com from multiple regions every 6 hours. U-Haul's status page sets the verdict above when it reports trouble, but never these figures. Percentages count only checks that returned an availability answer — 8 days measured so far. A dash means that window does not yet hold enough measured days to publish a figure.

What U-Haul does

U-Haul rents moving trucks, pickups, cargo vans, trailers and towing equipment, and offers self-storage, U-Box containers, trailer hitches and moving supplies. Customers reserve at uhaul.com or in the U-Haul app, which also handles mobile pickup and return at any hour, rental changes and Roadside Assistance requests. Pickups at a U-Haul center or dealer run through U-Haul's own point-of-sale system.

What an outage looks like

uhaul.com and staff systems show slow responses, error messages or pages that fail to load, as on October 12, 2026. Text and email verification codes arrive late or never (October 18 and August 8). At the counter, staff cannot dispatch your truck (July 9, about three hours), verify your driver's license (July 25, about seven hours) or take card payments (May 2, overnight at some locations).

What to do about it

Check status.uhaul.com, U-Haul's status page for its centers and dealers. The uhaul.com and Truck Share group covers the website, Live Verification and Truck Share; Payments covers card authorizations. When the point-of-sale system fails, U-Haul tells locations to keep renting in BackupPOS, a fallback system, so call your location before cancelling. For your reservation, call 1-800-GO-U-HAUL (1-800-468-4285) or use live chat on uhaul.com/Contact.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says U-Haul is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

U-Haul outage FAQ

Is status.uhaul.com meant for customers?
Partly. The page, titled U-Haul System, is written mainly for U-Haul centers and dealers: most rows are staff tools such as POS, uhaul.net, the dealer website, Workday and the contact center, and its updates give staff support extensions. It also has rows customers depend on, including uhaul.com, Truck Share, Live Verification and card authorizations, and U-Haul posts real incidents there several times a month.
Can I still pick up my U-Haul truck during an outage?
At the counter there is a fallback. When U-Haul's point-of-sale and other staff systems went down on October 20 and September 26, 2026, its status page told centers and dealers to continue business operations in BackupPOS and to import those contracts once the system recovered. Failures in dispatch itself take longer to work around: the July 9 dispatch errors lasted about three hours and the July 25 license verification errors about seven.
Why didn't my U-Haul verification code arrive?
It may be a delivery problem on U-Haul's side. Its status page reported SMS and email delivery delays and failures on October 18, 2026, fixed in about two and a half hours, and on August 8, when a database slowdown held up messages including verification codes for nearly five hours. Wait, then request a new code, or call 1-800-468-4285 if your pickup cannot wait.
How long do U-Haul outages usually last?
From minutes to most of a day. On U-Haul's status page the October 12, 2026 slowdown across uhaul.com and staff systems was fixed in about 20 minutes, the July 9 dispatch errors in about three hours and the July 25 driver's license verification errors in about seven hours. A May 2 card payment problem at some locations lasted into the next morning; U-Haul blamed unexpected maintenance.
What does the check on this page measure?
It loads www.uhaul.com, U-Haul's public website, and records whether it answers. It does not sign in, quote or book a rental, run mobile pickup in the U-Haul app or reach the point-of-sale system that centers and dealers use to dispatch trucks, which status.uhaul.com tracks as separate rows. A counter, the app or text verification can fail while the website loads normally.

How we measure this

  • We request U-Haul's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them. When you open this page and our last check is more than 30 minutes old, we check again on the spot; those checks update the verdict, never the availability figures.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. Our checks only change their verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where U-Haul publishes an official status feed we read it too, and the verdict is the worse of what it reports and what our checks see: a major outage of U-Haul itself is Down, trouble with one part of it is Degraded, problems at a few of a provider's many locations change nothing, and a security notice that marks nothing down is shown but changes nothing either. We check the feed every 3 minutes and read it again within minutes of any change to its incidents or components; a reading counts for 45 minutes after the last check that found nothing changed. The availability figures above are our measurement alone.
