What Ubiquiti does

Ubiquiti makes UniFi networking hardware including access points, switches, routers and cameras, used in offices, hotels and homes, along with the AmpliFi consumer line and UISP for internet service providers. The equipment runs locally, but Ubiquiti also operates cloud services for remote management, single sign-on, hosted controllers and features such as UniFi Talk and Teleport VPN.

What an outage looks like

The unifi.ui.com console will not load, or shows sites as offline even though the network itself is fine, because remote access is a cloud service while the hardware keeps switching traffic locally. Signing in fails when the SSO or account service is affected. Official UniFi Hosting controllers, UniFi Talk calls, Teleport VPN and AmpliFi remote access can each fail on their own.

What to do about it

Check status.ui.com, which separates UI Account Management and SSO from UniFi Remote Access, Official UniFi Hosting, UISP Cloud, UniFi Talk, Teleport VPN and AmpliFi. If only remote access is degraded, reach the controller on its local address over the LAN, which a cloud incident does not affect. Avoid adopting, resetting or re-provisioning devices during an incident, because those steps depend on the failing cloud services.

My UniFi network still works but the app says it is offline. Why?
Because remote access and the network itself are different things. UniFi hardware switches and routes traffic locally without needing Ubiquiti's cloud, so an incident on UniFi Remote Access or unifi.ui.com makes a site look offline in the app while wifi and internet keep working for everyone on the premises. Reach the controller on its local address to confirm what is actually happening.
Can I manage my network while Ubiquiti's cloud is down?
Locally, yes. A controller on your own network or a UniFi console on site is reachable over the LAN at its local address and does not depend on the cloud services listed on the status page. What you lose is remote administration from outside the network, plus any feature that is itself cloud-hosted, such as Teleport VPN or Official UniFi Hosting.
Does an outage affect UniFi Talk phones?
It can, and UniFi Talk is its own component on the status page. Because Talk is a hosted voice service rather than something the local hardware provides by itself, an incident there can stop calls while the rest of the network is entirely unaffected. Check that component specifically instead of assuming that a working internet connection means the phones will work too.
Is my Ubiquiti account safe if I cannot sign in?
A sign-in failure during an incident is an availability problem rather than an account one. The status page reports UI Account Management, the SSO service and the account service separately, so authentication can fail while everything else is healthy. Avoid repeated password resets while SSO is degraded, since the reset flow depends on the same services and can leave you locked out for longer.

How we measure this

  • We request Ubiquiti's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Ubiquiti publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
