Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Splice does

Splice is a subscription service for music producers, not film or tape splicing. Members spend credits on royalty-free samples, loops and presets, and the Splice desktop app downloads them to a local Splice folder for use in a DAW such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro or FL Studio. Splice also leases plugins through Rent-to-Own and offers a Sounds plugin, a mobile app and INSTRUMENT.

What an outage looks like

Past incidents show the usual shapes: login and sign-up failing, errors when downloading sounds, degraded search results, splice.com pages not loading, and the desktop app wrongly reporting that it is out of date. Samples already in your Splice folder keep playing in your DAW. Rent-to-Own plugins can show licensing errors if the desktop app cannot reach Splice to verify an active plan.

What to do about it

Read status.splice.com, which lists incidents by name rather than splitting out components. Do not delete or re-download anything: the desktop app switches to offline mode by itself, and you can still preview, filter and drag downloaded samples into your DAW. Rent-to-Own plugins get up to 3 days of offline access after the last authorization check. New downloads, collections and preset previews wait until Splice is back.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Splice is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

Splice outage FAQ

Is Splice down for everyone or just me?
Compare status.splice.com with outside measurements before troubleshooting your machine. Splice posts incidents such as login failures or download errors on that page. If the page is clear and splice.com loads, the problem is more likely local, such as antivirus interfering with the desktop app or a Splice folder error, both of which Splice's help center covers in its desktop app troubleshooting articles.
Can I use Splice samples offline or during an outage?
Yes, for samples already downloaded to your computer. Splice says the desktop app defaults to offline mode when it has no connection, and you can also switch to offline mode in Preferences. Offline you can preview, filter, drag or paste samples into your DAW. You cannot browse or download new sounds, or re-download library sounds that are not currently on your device.
Do I lose my Splice samples or licence if Splice goes down or I cancel?
No. Splice's help center says the certified licence for content added to your library is yours in perpetuity, even after cancelling, and every sound downloaded from Splice Sounds carries a royalty-free licence. After cancelling you can still re-download previously purchased samples. Unused credits are different: they expire 28 days after the end of your final billing period.
Why do my Rent-to-Own plugins stop working when Splice is down?
Leased plugins need the desktop app to confirm your plan. Each time your computer connects to the internet the app runs an authorization check, and you get up to 3 days of offline access before the next one is required. Splice's fix for licensing errors is to relaunch the app, log in with the account holding the plan, then open your DAW.
How long do Splice outages usually last?
Most posted incidents are resolved within a few hours. In February 2026 errors when downloading sounds were resolved in under 20 minutes, and in January 2026 an incident affecting parts of the website, desktop app and INSTRUMENT lasted about 80 minutes. A June 2026 login and sign-up failure took nearly three hours. Each incident's timeline is on status.splice.com.

How we measure this

  • We request Splice's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Splice publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
