What Speechmatics does
Speechmatics builds speech-to-text APIs for voice AI, aimed at real conversations with accents, several speakers and more than one language. Developers send recorded audio to its Batch SaaS or stream live audio to Realtime SaaS. Its status page lists Batch SaaS in the EU, US and Australia, Realtime SaaS in the US and EU, the portal, the management platform, usage reporting and its Docker and Helm registry.
What an outage looks like
Incidents usually hit one product in one region. Batch jobs process slowly or fail, as in US2 for about 18 hours on April 24, 2026. Realtime sessions fail to open: on September 4 users in the EU and US got 4003 errors for about 35 minutes, and on September 10 some US sessions failed with SSL/TLS connection errors for about two hours.
What to do about it
Check status.speechmatics.com for your product and region, since Batch EU1, EU2, US1, US2, AU and Realtime US and EU each have a row. During Batch incidents Speechmatics has told customers to switch endpoints: US2 when US1 was slow on May 1, 2026, and US1 when US2 was degraded on April 24. If problems continue after an incident is resolved, it asks customers to contact support.speechmatics.com.

How we measure this
- We request Speechmatics's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them. When you open this page and our last check is more than 30 minutes old, we check again on the spot; those checks update the verdict, never the availability figures.
- A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A
403or429means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage. - A single failing region is treated as probe noise. Our checks only change their verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
- Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
- Where Speechmatics publishes an official status feed we read it too, and the verdict is the worse of what it reports and what our checks see: a major outage of Speechmatics itself is Down, trouble with one part of it is Degraded, problems at a few of a provider's many locations change nothing, and a security notice that marks nothing down is shown but changes nothing either.
