SoundCloud is an audio streaming platform that allows artists to upload, share, and promote their music. It hosts over 300 million tracks and is known as a discovery platform for independent and emerging artists. SoundCloud also offers a subscription-based listening experience with SoundCloud Go and provides tools for podcasters.
What an outage looks like
When SoundCloud is down, tracks stop playing or fail to start, showing loading errors. Uploaded music may be inaccessible to listeners. The SoundCloud player embedded on other websites will also fail to load. Artist dashboards, upload functionality, and playback statistics become unavailable.

How we measure this
- We request SoundCloud's public endpoint every 30 minutes from Fly.io regions across six continents — 18 of them answered the most recent check.
- A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A
403or429means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage. - A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
- Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
- Where SoundCloud publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
