Is QuickBooks Online Down?

No — QuickBooks Online is up

We cannot measure QuickBooks Online directly — it blocks automated checks — but QuickBooks Online's own status page currently reports no issues.

Last checked · checks run every 6 hours

Why there is no uptime figure on this page

The last time we fetched QuickBooks Online's page directly, our checks failed from every region we tried. On that evidence alone we cannot tell an origin refusing our automation from a service that is genuinely down — the two look identical to us — and we are not willing to call it an outage on a guess.

So we publish no uptime percentage for QuickBooks Online. What this page does show is each region's most recent result and QuickBooks Online's own status feed, which you can weigh yourself.

Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What QuickBooks Online does

QuickBooks Online is Intuit's cloud accounting product, used by small businesses and their bookkeepers for invoicing, expenses, payroll and tax preparation. It holds the books rather than a copy of them, so an outage stops invoicing and reconciliation outright, and lands hardest at month end and around tax deadlines.

What an outage looks like

The dashboard fails to load or hangs on a spinner after login. Invoices will not save, or save without syncing to the customer record. Bank feeds stop importing new transactions, so reconciliation shows a gap rather than an error. Payroll runs may fail to submit, and connected apps report authentication failures against the QuickBooks API.

What to do about it

Check status.quickbooks.intuit.com, which reports QuickBooks Online, Self-Employed and Desktop separately and splits each by region (United States, EMEA, APAC, Canada, LATAM), so confirm your region before concluding anything. Do not re-enter an invoice that appeared to fail; duplicates are harder to unpick than a missing entry. Payroll deadlines are worth escalating to support directly.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says QuickBooks Online is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

QuickBooks Online outage FAQ

Is QuickBooks Online down or is it just my company file?
The status page reports by product and by region, so start there and match your region. If your region is operational and only your company loads slowly, the cause is more often a very large file, a browser extension, or a stale session. Signing in from a private window is the quickest way to separate an account problem from an outage.
Will I lose invoices or transactions entered during an outage?
Anything QuickBooks acknowledged and showed as saved is stored server-side and returns with the service. The uncertainty is over entries submitted while the connection was failing, which may not have landed. Rather than re-entering them immediately, wait for the status page to clear and check the register first, because duplicate transactions take longer to correct than missing ones.
Does a QuickBooks outage stop payroll from running?
It can, and this is the part worth acting on rather than waiting out. Payroll has legal deadlines that an outage does not move, so if a run fails close to a cutoff, contact Intuit support rather than retrying quietly. Intuit reports payroll issues on the same status page, though often within the broader product entry rather than as its own line.
Why have my bank transactions stopped importing?
Bank feeds depend on a connection between QuickBooks and your bank, and either side can break. During a QuickBooks incident the feed pauses and catches up afterwards, usually without losing transactions. If the status page is clear, the more likely cause is an expired bank authorisation, which needs reconnecting from the banking screen rather than waiting.
Can my accountant still access the books during an outage?
No. Accountant access runs through the same platform, so if QuickBooks Online is down for you it is down for them. Regional reporting matters here: an accountant working in a different Intuit region may see a healthy service while you do not. Agree a fallback such as exported reports before a deadline rather than during one.

How we measure this

  • We request QuickBooks Online's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where QuickBooks Online publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it — and when QuickBooks Online blocks our checks entirely, we report the vendor's own status directly.
