What Podium does

Podium is a customer communication platform for local businesses such as auto dealers, home services, retail and aesthetics practices, not the stage or sports term. Staff handle texts and webchat in a shared Inbox, run Podium Phones, manage reviews, take payments and send bulk text campaigns, while Podium's AI Employee replies to leads and books appointments around the clock. The company is based in Lehi, Utah.

What an outage looks like

Podium incidents usually hit one product at a time: inbound and outbound calls failing to connect or not ringing, outbound SMS failing with a general system failure error, the Inbox conversation list lagging 15 minutes or more behind, bulk messages failing to send, AI Employee messages not going out, or reporting dashboards not loading. In the Inbox a failed message turns red and shows a five-digit error code.

What to do about it

Open status.podium.com and find the matching component, such as Phones, Messaging, Bulk Messaging or AI Employee. Set Backup Call Routing under Settings, Phones, Call Experience before you need it: in an outage Podium tries to send incoming calls to that external number. During a carrier-side SMS incident Podium said retrying a failed message may succeed. Support is (801) 999-8216 by text or phone.

Is Podium down for everyone or just me?

Check status.podium.com first, which lists 16 components separately, including Messaging, Phones, Payments, Reviews, Webchat, Mobile, Public API and AI Employee. If nothing is marked and a message fails without an error code, Podium's help center says to refresh the page, try a different browser and clear your browser cache before contacting Podium Support.

What happens to my business phone calls when Podium is down?

They go to your backup number if you have set one. Podium's Backup Call Routing setting, under Settings, Phones, Call Experience, redirects incoming calls to an external phone during a system outage, and it applies to every phone number at the location. Podium says it will attempt the redirect, so pick a number that someone actually answers, such as a mobile phone.

Why did my Podium text message fail to send?

Look at the error code first: a failed message turns red with a five-digit code, and the Failed Conversation view lists every conversation whose latest message failed. Many failures are carrier filtering or invalid numbers rather than outages. When Podium's own carrier partner had a problem, the status page said failures were intermittent, retrying could succeed, and affected messages showed a general system failure error.

When does Podium schedule maintenance?

Usually early on Sunday mornings, often starting at 3 AM Mountain Time, and it is announced in advance on status.podium.com. Past windows have covered the AI backend, the Public API and a general maintenance hour with brief 1-2 minute interruptions. Podium's notice for login-service maintenance said users would be logged out and have to sign back in afterwards.

How long do Podium outages usually last?

Most resolve within a few hours. In September 2026 calls failing to connect lasted 2 hours 35 minutes on one day and 1 hour 20 minutes on another, and AI Employee messages not sending took 3 hours 16 minutes. Inbox lag incidents run longer: an August 2026 conversation-list delay stayed open for nearly four days while a durable fix was built.

How we measure this

We request Podium's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them. When you open this page and our last check is more than 30 minutes old, we check again on the spot; those checks update the verdict, never the availability figures.
A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
A single failing region is treated as probe noise. Our checks only change their verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
Where Podium publishes an official status feed we read it too, and the verdict is the worse of what it reports and what our checks see: a major outage of Podium itself is Down, trouble with one part of it is Degraded, problems at a few of a provider's many locations change nothing, and a security notice that marks nothing down is shown but changes nothing either. A reading counts for 45 minutes; we read the feed again within minutes of any change to its incidents. The availability figures above are our measurement alone.
