Components the vendor reports as affected: Video Degraded Performance

A component listed here does not necessarily mean a full outage — large providers routinely report maintenance on individual locations. It only affects the verdict above when the vendor marks it major or critical and our own checks also saw Philo fail from enough regions to rule out probe noise.

Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Philo does

Philo is a subscription streaming service that offers live TV channels plus on-demand shows and movies, watched through its own apps on smart TVs, streaming devices, phones and the web. It is aimed at people who want cable-style entertainment channels without a cable contract, so an outage usually shows up as a blank or frozen screen during the evening.

What an outage looks like

Video fails to start, buffers endlessly or freezes mid-show while the app menus still load. Sign-in fails or new sign-ups cannot complete. The app crashes or will not open on one type of device. Help pages or chat and phone support are unreachable. Problems can be limited to one platform, such as a streaming stick model, while everything else works.

What to do about it

Check status.philo.com, which reports Video, Sign Up, Sign In, Apps, help.philo.com and Support (chat and phone) separately and has a Report an issue link. Read the incident text for your device, because Philo posts device-specific problems there: on September 15, 2026 it reported video freezing on certain Roku models. If only one device is affected, try another device or the web.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Philo is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 18 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

Philo outage FAQ

Is Philo down or is it my device?
Read the current incidents on status.philo.com before changing settings. Philo names specific devices in its incidents, as it did on September 15, 2026 for video freezing on Roku G000x and H000x models. If your device is named, the fix is on Philo's or the device maker's side. If not, restart the app and device, then try another screen to narrow it down.
Why does the Philo app open but video will not play?
Because Philo reports Video separately from Apps and Sign In. The menus and guide can load normally while the video component is degraded, so the app looks fine until you press play. If Video shows an incident, restarting will not help much, and the practical option is to wait for recovery.
I cannot sign in to Philo. Is it down?
Check the Sign In row on the status page. If it is operational, the problem is more likely with your account or device: an expired session, a changed password, or an app that needs updating. If Sign In shows an incident, avoid repeated attempts and resetting your password, since that will not fix a service problem.
How do I report a Philo problem?
Use the Report an issue link on status.philo.com, or Philo's chat and phone support, which has its own row on the status page. Include your device model and what you see, since Philo tracks some incidents by device. If support is also shown as degraded, the status page is the fastest place for updates.
Is Philo down for everyone or just me?
Compare the status page with this page's measurements. Our probes check philo.com from several regions, which tells you whether the service is reachable, while the status page covers video playback and apps that probes cannot see. If both look healthy, the cause is likely your home network or device.

How we measure this

  • We request Philo's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Philo publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
