Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Peloton does

Peloton sells connected bikes, treadmills and rowers with a built-in tablet, and streams live and on-demand classes to them and to a phone app. The hardware works mechanically on its own, but the class, the leaderboard and the record of the workout all come from the service, so subscribers depend on it for the session itself.

What an outage looks like

Classes fail to load on the tablet or in the app, or start and then buffer until they drop. Member login fails, leaving the tablet on a signed-out screen. The leaderboard stays empty or freezes mid-ride. Completed workouts never appear in profile history and their metrics are missing. Integrations with Strava, Spotify or Apple Music stop syncing.

What to do about it

Check status.onepeloton.com, which breaks the service into member login, live classes, on-demand classes, the leaderboard and hardware, so the failing component tells you whether to wait or reboot. Peloton lists integrations such as Strava and Spotify separately, so a sync failure can be isolated from the class itself. Restarting the tablet is worth one attempt, no more, during a listed incident.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Peloton is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

Peloton outage FAQ

Can I still ride if Peloton is down?
The hardware still works mechanically, so you can ride or run, but the class, the leaderboard and the saved record of the workout all come from the service. Members who track streaks or output usually wait for the incident to clear rather than lose the session, since a workout completed during an outage may never reach profile history.
Why did my workout disappear from my history?
Workout history is a separate component on Peloton's status page from the classes themselves, so a ride can play normally while the record of it fails to save. If history is the listed fault, the metrics may appear once the incident clears. If they have not returned by then, support is the only route, because the data is held server-side.
Is it the tablet or the service?
If the phone app fails the same way at the same time, it is the service. If only the tablet is affected, the tablet is the likelier cause, and Peloton lists connected fitness tablets as their own component for exactly that reason. A signed-out screen during a listed member login incident is not something a reboot will fix.
Why has my Strava or Spotify sync stopped?
Peloton tracks integrations with Strava, Spotify, Apple Music and others as separate components, so they can fail while classes stream normally. A workout that did not reach Strava during an outage does not always backfill afterwards. Checking the integration component tells you whether to disconnect and reconnect the account or simply wait it out.

How we measure this

  • We request Peloton's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Peloton publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
