What Patreon does

Patreon is a membership platform where creators charge recurring subscriptions and publish posts, video and audio for paying members. Creators run both their income and their main line to an audience through it, so an outage during a launch or a billing run touches money and reach at the same time.

What an outage looks like

Members cannot sign in or open paid posts, and the feed loads empty rather than showing an error. New pledges fail at checkout. The creator dashboard will not load, or loads showing stale patron counts. Push and email notifications for new posts arrive late or not at all, so a post published mid-incident reaches nobody.

What to do about it

Check status.patreon.com, which reports Payments, Payout, Pledging, Posts and Notifications as separate components, so a failed checkout does not necessarily mean posts are down. Hold a launch until Notifications and Payments are both healthy, since a post published during an incident may never notify anyone. Avoid re-entering a pledge that appeared to fail until you can confirm it did.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

Is Patreon down or is it just my account?

status.patreon.com lists Signup and Login separately from the website, so start there. If everything is green and only you are affected, try a private window or a different device to rule out a stale session. Membership problems limited to one creator's page are more often a campaign setting than an outage of the platform.

Will my pledge still go through if Patreon is down?

Payments and Pledging are separate components from the website, so a checkout that errored may still have been recorded. Rather than submitting again and risking a duplicate charge, wait until the status page clears and check your membership list. Recurring pledges already in place are processed on Patreon's billing schedule and are not lost because of an outage.

Can creators still post during a Patreon outage?

Sometimes, since Posts and Notifications are tracked separately, but publishing mid-incident is worth avoiding. A post can save correctly while email and push notifications fail, meaning your members never learn it exists and it quietly slides down their feed. Waiting for Notifications to recover is usually better than publishing to silence.

Do members lose access to paid content during an outage?

Access is not revoked; it is temporarily unreachable. Memberships and entitlements are stored server-side and return with the service, so nobody is unsubscribed by an incident. What members see meanwhile is an empty feed or a failed load on posts they are entitled to, which reads like a billing problem but is not one.

Does a Patreon outage delay creator payouts?

Payout is its own status component, so it can be affected independently of the website. A short incident does not usually change the payout schedule, since payouts run on fixed dates rather than continuously. Longer incidents affecting Payments Processing are the ones worth watching, and Patreon reports those separately from the rest of the platform.

How we measure this

We request Patreon's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
Where Patreon publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
