Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Lightspeed does

Lightspeed is a point of sale and commerce platform for retailers, restaurants and golf courses. Stores use it to ring up sales, manage inventory and run online shops, restaurants use it for ordering and back office, and Lightspeed Payments processes cards. It runs as several separate product lines, such as Retail X-Series and Restaurant K-Series, each with its own systems and its own rows on the status page.

What an outage looks like

The register cannot complete a sale or the card terminal will not connect, and staff see errors when looking up products or customers. The back office will not load, so reports, inventory and purchase orders are unavailable. Online orders may stop arriving through the API. Because each product line runs separately, one Lightspeed product can fail while a business on a different series is unaffected.

What to do about it

On status.lightspeedhq.com find the group for your product line, such as Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) or Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series), and read its POS, Payments and Back Office rows. If card payments fail, take payment another way and note each sale so nothing is charged twice later. This page measures the Retail X-Series sign-in, so judge other series by their own rows.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Lightspeed is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

Lightspeed outage FAQ

Which Lightspeed product do I have?
The status page names every product line: Retail comes as R-Series, S-Series and X-Series, Restaurant as G-Series, K-Series, L-Series and O-Series, alongside eCom, Golf, Loyalty and NuORDER. Each has its own rows, so knowing yours is the difference between reading the right incident and the wrong one. If you are unsure, your Lightspeed account settings or support contact can tell you.
Can I keep selling if Lightspeed is down?
It depends on what failed. Lightspeed lists POS, back office and payments as separate rows for each product line, so a back office incident can leave the register working, while a payments incident stops card sales but not cash. Check which row is affected, then take cash or another payment method and record each sale for entry once service returns.
Is it Lightspeed or my internet?
Check the status page rows for your product line first. If every row is green, test the store's connection on another device and restart the router and the card terminal. Lightspeed publishes a network connectivity troubleshooting guide for Restaurant O-Series that is worth following on that product. Failures from several regions on this page point to Lightspeed itself.
Did a card payment go through during the outage?
Check before charging again. Look up the sale in the back office once it loads and confirm whether a payment was recorded against it. If one exists, the sale completed even though the register showed an error. Running the card a second time on a guess risks a double charge that then has to be refunded.

How we measure this

  • We request Lightspeed's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Lightspeed publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
