What Hostinger does

Hostinger is a budget web host selling shared hosting, VPS, domains and email, managed through its hPanel control panel. Small businesses and personal sites run on it, frequently with the domain, DNS, website and mailboxes all in one account, so a single incident can take a site and its email down together.

What an outage looks like

Sites in the affected datacenter time out or return 500 errors while the rest of Hostinger stays up. hPanel fails to load, or loads with no data, so you cannot restart anything. Email stops: webmail will not open and IMAP and SMTP connections fail, which reads as a mail client problem rather than a host outage. DNS lookups for domains on Hostinger nameservers may fail.

What to do about it

Check status.hostinger.com, which redirects to statuspage.hostinger.com and reports per-datacenter components alongside hPanel, DNS, CDN, Mail and the billing and support portals. Identify your datacenter first, because an incident in one region says nothing about another. Mail is split into inbound SMTP, outbound SMTP, IMAP and POP3 and webmail as separate components, so check which direction is failing before reconfiguring any client.

Is Hostinger down, or is it only my website?
Hostinger reports individual datacenters as separate components, so start by finding which one hosts your account. A site failing while its datacenter shows green usually points at your own application: a PHP error, an exhausted resource limit on a shared plan, or a recent plugin change. A datacenter-level incident takes down every site on that facility at once.
Why is my email down when my website works?
They are separate systems on separate status components. Hostinger tracks Mail, webmail, inbound SMTP, outbound SMTP and IMAP and POP3 independently of hosting, so mail can fail completely while your site serves normally. This is also why the failure looks like a mail client problem at first. Check the mail components before rebuilding an account in Outlook or Apple Mail.
Will I lose email sent to me during an outage?
Usually not. When a receiving mail server is unreachable, standard SMTP behaviour is for the sending server to queue the message and retry over a period of days rather than discard it, so mail generally arrives once the service returns. Messages will be late rather than lost. Outbound mail you tried to send yourself is the part worth re-checking in your sent folder.
Can I do anything while hPanel is unavailable?
Very little, and that is the point of checking whether hPanel itself is the affected component. hPanel front end and back end are tracked separately, so the interface can load while the back end cannot action anything, which looks like your changes silently failing. If the back end is down, wait rather than repeating an action such as a restore, which may queue and run more than once.

How we measure this

  • We request Hostinger's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Hostinger publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
