Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Hootsuite does

Hootsuite schedules and publishes posts across social networks from one dashboard, with streams for monitoring mentions and analytics on top. Marketing teams queue campaigns days ahead, so an outage can mean a launch post never goes out at the moment it was timed for, with no obvious signal that it failed.

What an outage looks like

The dashboard fails to load or opens with streams empty, which looks like silence on your channels rather than a fault. Scheduled posts do not publish at their set time. Composing fails on submit, and posts may publish to some connected networks and not others. Analytics load stale, and connected accounts appear disconnected and ask to reauthorise.

What to do about it

Check status.hootsuite.com, which reports the Hootsuite web and mobile applications alongside Sparkcentral and Talkwalker. Verify whether time-sensitive posts actually published by looking at the social network itself rather than at Hootsuite, and post directly there if a launch window is closing. Avoid rescheduling a post that may have gone out, since duplicates are public and awkward.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Hootsuite is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

Hootsuite outage FAQ

Did my scheduled post go out during the outage?
Check the social network directly rather than Hootsuite. A post can publish successfully while the dashboard fails to show it, and the reverse also happens. Missed posts are not always published retroactively once the service recovers, so a launch that mattered is worth confirming at the source and posting manually if it did not.
Is Hootsuite down or has a social account disconnected?
Expired authorisations are far more common than platform incidents and produce a clear prompt to reconnect the account. An outage instead gives failures across all networks at once. If only one channel is failing while others publish fine, reconnect that account rather than waiting for a status page that will stay green.
Why are my streams empty when my accounts are active?
Streams pull from the social networks through Hootsuite, so an incident on either side leaves them blank. An empty stream reads as nobody talking about you, which is a misleading impression to act on. Check the network directly before concluding that engagement dropped, especially if you monitor mentions for support.
Do posts publish to some networks and not others?
Yes, and it is a common partial failure. Each network integration is separate, so a post can reach one platform and fail on another, leaving your channels inconsistent. After an incident, compare what actually published on each network rather than trusting a single success message in the composer, then fill the gaps manually.
Does a Hootsuite outage affect Sparkcentral or Talkwalker?
They are listed as their own applications on the same status page and can fail independently. A team using Sparkcentral for customer conversations may be blocked while publishing works normally, or the reverse. Match the symptom to the specific application rather than treating any Hootsuite problem as one platform-wide event.

How we measure this

  • We request Hootsuite's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Hootsuite publishes an official status feed we read it too, and let it override us in both directions.
