Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Frontline Education does

Frontline Education, based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, makes administration software for K-12 school districts. Its Absence Management product is where teachers record absences and substitutes find and accept jobs, and districts also use Frontline for recruiting and hiring, HR, time and attendance, professional growth, special education, school health, student information and ERP. Staff and substitutes sign in at app.frontlineeducation.com or through the Frontline Education mobile app.

What an outage looks like

Frontline problems usually hit one product rather than the whole platform. Recent incidents include districts unable to reach the Texas ERP, slowness in the META Gradebook on the Ohio SIS, and unauthorized errors from the VendorLink API on SIS Ohio. When Absence Management is affected, teachers may be unable to enter absences and substitutes unable to see or accept jobs on the web or in the mobile app.

What to do about it

Check status.frontlineeducation.com, which lists more than 30 products separately, including Absence Management, Frontline Central, Frontline Mobile, Time & Attendance, HRMS and the state ERP and SIS rows. For absences, Frontline's quick-start guides give a phone line, 1-800-942-3767, where teachers create absences and substitutes hear and accept jobs using their ID and PIN. Teachers and substitutes contact their district administrator; district admins contact Frontline Support.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Frontline Education is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

Frontline Education outage FAQ

Is Frontline Education down for everyone or just me?
Check which row on status.frontlineeducation.com is marked, because Frontline tracks each product separately, from Absence Management and Absence Management Canada to Frontline Central, Professional Growth and Time & Attendance. If every row is green, the cause is more likely your account or your district's setup. Frontline's guides point teachers and substitutes to the Help Resources menu, which shows their organization administrator's contact details.
Can I report an absence by phone when the Frontline website is down?
Frontline Absence Management has a phone line, 1-800-942-3767, that you use with your ID and PIN. Teachers can create an absence within the next 30 days and review upcoming absences, and substitutes can hear available jobs and accept them. The status page does not list the phone line as its own row, so if calls fail too, tell your school office directly rather than waiting.
Will substitutes still get calls about open jobs?
Frontline's substitute guide says that if a job is still unfilled two days before the absence starts, Absence Management begins calling substitutes automatically, one job per call. The status page does not say whether an outage delays those calls, so while the Absence Management row is marked, a school office covering an absence in the next day or two should phone substitutes directly instead of waiting for the system.
Does a Frontline outage affect district ERP and student systems?
Only the products on the affected row. Frontline lists ERP for California, ERP for Texas / SIS and SIS Ohio separately from its HR and absence products, and recent incidents stayed in one row: one outage blocked access to the Texas ERP, and a VendorLink API fault returned unauthorized errors on SIS Ohio. Absence Management and Frontline Central were not listed as affected by either.
How do I contact Frontline Support?
District administrators reach Frontline Support through the Learning Center, opened from the question mark icon in the application's top bar, where they can chat, submit a case or track existing cases. Frontline's customer page also lists (855) 999-8515. Chat with a representative is limited to administrators with the right permissions, so teachers and substitutes should go to their district's Frontline administrator first.

How we measure this

  • We request Frontline Education's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Frontline Education publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
