What Eventbrite does

Eventbrite sells tickets and manages registration for conferences, classes and community events, handling payment, attendee lists and check-in at the door. Events have a fixed moment, so an outage during an on-sale or on the morning of a door opening causes losses that cannot be made up later.

What an outage looks like

Event pages fail to load for buyers, so an on-sale meets an error page rather than a queue. Checkout errors after card details are entered, leaving buyers unsure whether they were charged. The organiser dashboard will not load, blocking access to attendee lists. Check-in through the organiser app fails at the door, and confirmation emails do not arrive.

What to do about it

Check eventbritestatus.com. If an event is opening or a door is about to, prepare an offline fallback immediately: export the attendee list as soon as it is reachable, and check people in on paper or a spreadsheet rather than waiting. Avoid asking buyers to purchase again, since a duplicated ticket means a refund and an awkward conversation.

Was I charged if Eventbrite failed during checkout?

Possibly, and the safe move is to check rather than retry. A payment can be taken while the confirmation step fails, which leaves you with a charge and no ticket visible. Look for a charge on your card statement and for a confirmation email, then contact the organiser or Eventbrite. Buying again risks paying twice.

How do I check attendees in if Eventbrite is down at the door?

With an exported list, which is why exporting it the day before matters. Organisers who wait until the morning to download the attendee list find that the export needs the service that is down. A printed or spreadsheet copy lets the door keep moving, and scans can be reconciled in the system afterwards.

Do ticket sales resume automatically after an outage?

Sales resume when the platform does, but the buyers who hit an error during the window mostly do not return. For a timed on-sale, that is a permanent loss rather than a delay. If the on-sale was significant, announcing a new time once the status page clears recovers more than silently reopening does.

Are existing tickets valid during an Eventbrite outage?

Yes. A ticket already issued is valid regardless of whether the platform is reachable, and most attendees have a PDF or wallet copy in their email. The problem is verification at the door rather than validity. Accepting a confirmation email as proof and reconciling later is better than turning away paying attendees.

Will organisers know if their event page was unavailable?

Not automatically, and this is worth checking after any incident. A buyer who met an error page leaves no trace in your dashboard, so sales simply look lower than expected for that period. Comparing traffic and sales against a normal window is the only way to see what an outage actually cost.

How we measure this

We request Eventbrite's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
Where Eventbrite publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
