Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What ESET does

ESET is a security vendor whose business products are managed from cloud consoles: ESET PROTECT for endpoint management, ESET Inspect for detection and response, and ESET Cloud Office Security for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Administrators use them to deploy policy, read detections and run remediation across a fleet, so an outage is an administrative problem before it is a protection one.

What an outage looks like

The ESET PROTECT console fails to load or times out on sign-in, and dashboards show stale detection data. Policy and task changes do not reach endpoints. ESET Cloud Office Security stops scanning mailboxes for the duration. Cloud-assisted components behave differently from the console: LiveGrid reputation lookups and LiveGuard sandboxing are tracked separately and can fail on their own.

What to do about it

Check status.eset.com and read your own region's row, because every major component is broken out across Europe/Africa/Asia Pacific, Americas/Oceania, Japan, Canada and Germany and incidents are often regional. ESET states that locally installed products remain unaffected during an outage, so endpoints keep enforcing the policy they already hold. Defer fleet-wide policy pushes until the console reports operational.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says ESET is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 18 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

ESET outage FAQ

Are my computers unprotected while ESET's cloud is down?
No. ESET's service availability documentation states that in the event of an outage, locally installed products remain unaffected. Endpoints keep scanning and keep enforcing the policy they last received. What you lose is central visibility and control: new detections may not appear in the console, and policy changes will not reach machines until it returns.
Which ESET service is actually affected?
Read the component, not the banner. ESET's status page lists ESET PROTECT, ESET Inspect, ESET Cloud Office Security for Microsoft 365 and for Google Workspace, ESET Connect, ESET Secure Authentication, ESET PROTECT Hub, LiveGrid, LiveGuard, ESET Business Account, ESET MSP Administrator and Threat Intelligence separately, most of them split again by region.
Does an ESET outage affect my region?
Not necessarily. ESET reports most components across Europe/Africa/Asia Pacific, Americas/Oceania, Japan, Canada and Germany as separate rows, and incidents frequently hit one region only. A global banner misleads in both directions: it can show a problem you do not have, or hide one you do.
What availability does ESET commit to?
ESET's availability of service documentation states a target of 99.5% monthly availability for its cloud-based products, defined as the ability to access and use them over the internet. That target excludes planned maintenance announced at least three business days ahead, limitations on the customer's own side, and force majeure events.

How we measure this

  • We request ESET's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 7 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where ESET publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
