Is Escape from Tarkov Down?

Escape from Tarkov is responding, but blocks automated checks

When we last reached Escape from Tarkov directly, it answered and refused us — origin returns HTTP 403 bot challenge. An answer is proof the origin was serving traffic, but it measures our access, not the service, so we publish no percentage.

Why there is no uptime figure on this page

The last time we fetched Escape from Tarkov's page directly, the origin answered and turned our client away rather than serving the page. That answer tells us the origin was reachable and responding, but it is a response about our automation, not about whether Escape from Tarkov works for you.

A percentage built from those checks would measure our own access, so we do not publish one. What this page does show is each region's most recent result and Escape from Tarkov's own status feed, which you can weigh yourself.

Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Escape from Tarkov does

Escape from Tarkov is an online tactical shooter developed by Battlestate Games. Raids, inventory, the flea market and character progression all run server-side, so there is no offline mode for the main game. Players connect through a dedicated launcher and are matched into raids on shared servers, which means a server fault stops play entirely rather than degrading it.

What an outage looks like

Battlestate Games tracks Website, Forum, Authentication, Launcher, Group lobby, Trading, Matchmaking, Friends and msg, and Inventory operations as separate services. Outages rarely take all of them: the launcher can sign you in while matchmaking hangs, trading and the flea market can fail while raids run, or group lobbies break while solo play works. Scheduled patch downtime looks identical from the client.

What to do about it

Check status.escapefromtarkov.com, which lists each service separately and shows current server issues plus messages from the last seven days, so you can tell a patch from a fault. It also carries Battlestate Games' posts. Wipe days and update installs take the servers down on purpose and are announced there, which explains most of the times the game will not load.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Escape from Tarkov is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

Escape from Tarkov outage FAQ

Is Tarkov down or is it patch downtime?
The status page distinguishes them. It carries a messages feed covering the last seven days, and scheduled work such as an update installation is posted there rather than showing as an unplanned incident. If the services list is healthy and the messages feed names an update, the servers are down deliberately and will return on the announced schedule.
Why can I launch the game but not get into a raid?
Matchmaking is a separate service from Authentication and Launcher on Battlestate's status page, so signing in successfully tells you nothing about whether raids are available. When matchmaking alone is affected, the client behaves normally right up to the point of queuing. The status page's server issues section is where a regional server problem would appear.
Does an outage affect my stash or flea market listings?
Inventory operations and Trading are tracked as their own services, so both can fail independently of raids. Items and listings are stored server-side and are not lost when the service is unavailable, but changes attempted during a fault may not register. Avoid repeating a trade that appeared to fail until the status page shows Trading working again.
Is Escape from Tarkov playable offline when servers are down?
No. The main game is online only, and raids, progression, inventory and the flea market are all handled server-side. When Battlestate's servers are unavailable there is no offline fallback for the persistent game. That is why an authentication or matchmaking fault stops play completely rather than reducing what is available to you.

How we measure this

  • We request Escape from Tarkov's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Escape from Tarkov publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it — and when Escape from Tarkov blocks our checks entirely, we report the vendor's own status directly.
