Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Cognito Forms does

Cognito Forms is an online form builder used by nonprofits, healthcare, schools, government and small businesses to collect submissions, signatures and payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo. Forms are embedded on the owner's website or shared by link, entries are stored in Cognito, and each submission can trigger notification emails and integrations such as Zapier, Make or Power Automate.

What an outage looks like

Embedded forms stop loading on your own website, or load only intermittently, because the form is served from cognitoforms.com. Pages time out and submissions fail. Notification and confirmation emails arrive hours late while forms keep working. Integrations and webhooks stop sending entries to other systems, payment steps fail when a processor such as Square has its own outage, and entry exports stall.

What to do about it

Check status.cognitoforms.com, which reports Website and Forms, Email and Integrations separately. If only Email is degraded, forms can still take submissions: read new entries on the Entries page rather than waiting for notifications. In past email incidents Cognito sent the delayed notifications once fixed, so do not ask people to resubmit. During a long forms outage, post another way to reach you beside the form.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Cognito Forms is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

Cognito Forms outage FAQ

Why is the Cognito form on my website not loading?
Check status.cognitoforms.com first: an embedded Cognito form loads from www.cognitoforms.com, so a Website and Forms incident breaks it even when your own site is up. If Cognito is healthy, its support article lists the usual causes: availability dates set on the form, an unsupported browser, a code conflict between the embed code and your site, or an unverified account email. For code conflicts it suggests switching to the Iframe embed.
Does a Microsoft Azure outage affect Cognito Forms?
It has more than once. Cognito's own incident updates tied its October 2025 service disruption to a Microsoft Azure outage and its April 2026 partial disruption to Azure infrastructure that routes traffic. In July 2024 forms and sign-in stayed intermittent until Microsoft rolled out a fix. When Cognito is slow or failing, check the Azure status page alongside Cognito's own.
Will I lose notification emails during a Cognito outage?
In past incidents, no: they arrived late. After the February 2024 email incident Cognito said notifications not sent during the outage had since been sent, and in July 2025 it said all queued emails were being processed and delivered. The Email row on the status page covers these notifications. The entry itself is on the Entries page, so you can act on it before the email turns up.
How long do Cognito Forms outages last?
Usually hours, based on its incident history. The last three Website and Forms incidents were resolved after about 8 hours in April 2026, 7 hours in October 2025 and just over 1 hour in April 2025. Email delays in 2024 and 2025 ran about 11 and 12 hours before being marked resolved. The longest recent website outage, in July 2024, took about 22 hours.
Did my form submission go through during the outage?
Not if the page errored or timed out when you submitted. During the April 2026 disruption Cognito reported that some users could not load pages or submit forms. Wait until the Website and Forms row shows operational, then submit again. If the form took a payment and you saw an error, contact the organization that owns the form before resubmitting so you are not charged twice.

How we measure this

  • We request Cognito Forms's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Cognito Forms publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
