What Check Point does

Check Point sells network security: firewalls and gateways, the Infinity Portal management console, Harmony endpoint and email protection, and the ThreatCloud AI reputation service its products query. Enterprises run it as the enforcement layer in front of their networks, so its cloud side is a dependency for management and for the threat intelligence gateways look up in real time.

What an outage looks like

The Infinity Portal will not load, so policy cannot be edited or installed and logs stop arriving in the console. Smart-1 Cloud management is unreachable. Threat emulation and extraction of files takes far longer than usual or times out. Detection views in Infinity XDR are empty even though sensors are still reporting normally.

What to do about it

Read status.checkpoint.com. Its incidents name a data residency region, so check the region your tenant lives in rather than the headline. Gateways keep enforcing the policy already installed while management is unavailable, so avoid pushing a policy change mid-incident. Check Point has rerouted ThreatCloud AI traffic to other regions during regional incidents, so protection can continue while the portal does not.

Are my firewalls still protecting the network if the Infinity Portal is down?
Yes. Gateways enforce the security policy already installed on them, so traffic keeps being inspected and blocked while the management console is unreachable. What you lose is visibility and control: log collection into the portal, policy edits and installs, and reporting. Treat it as flying without instruments rather than as an unprotected network.
Why does Check Point's status page name a region rather than a service?
Check Point Infinity is sold with data residency, so a customer's tenant lives in a named region and an incident there affects only the customers hosted in it. Recent incidents on status.checkpoint.com were scoped to the UAE region specifically. Find your own data residency region before deciding whether a published incident applies to your tenant at all.
Is it Check Point or my own gateway?
Compare scope. A single gateway losing connectivity is a local problem: check its link and its route to the management server. A Check Point incident affects cloud services many customers share within one region, and status.checkpoint.com names them individually, including Infinity Portal, Smart-1 Cloud, Infinity XDR and ThreatCloud AI.
Does an outage stop threat emulation from working?
It can. SandBlast Threat Emulation and Threat Extraction appear as their own components on status.checkpoint.com. During regional incidents Check Point has routed that traffic to other regions rather than dropping it, so the usual effect is slower file inspection rather than none. Files awaiting emulation may be held longer before they are released to users.
Will logs collected during an outage appear later?
Gateways continue generating logs locally while the cloud management side is unavailable, so the record is not simply lost. Whether and how quickly a backlog appears in the console after recovery depends on your deployment, so verify the affected window in the portal once the incident closes rather than assuming the gap has filled itself in.

How we measure this

  • We request Check Point's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Check Point publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
