Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What ChargePoint does

ChargePoint runs an electric vehicle charging network. Drivers find stations and start sessions in the ChargePoint app, with an activated ChargePoint card or with Tap to Charge on a phone, and pay through a free ChargePoint account. Most stations on the network are independently owned and maintained by their owners. ChargePoint also sells ChargePoint Home chargers and software that station owners use to run their sites.

What an outage looks like

Most incidents on ChargePoint's status page are drops in station reachability, usually traced to a partner mobile carrier, where stations lose contact with the network and drivers see degraded charging. App incidents look different: the map not loading, or Start Charge returning a System Error or failing silently. In July 2026 some RFID card starts in the US and Canada were refused with Card Declined.

What to do about it

Check status.chargepoint.com, which splits Driver Apps, Charging Stations, Station Owner Apps, APIs and be.ENERGISED. If only the app is failing, start the session by tapping an activated ChargePoint card on the reader or with Tap to Charge; during a 2024 app slowdown ChargePoint said both, plus contactless credit cards, still worked. Report a faulty station in the app, or call 1-888-758-4389 (US and Canada, 24/7).

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says ChargePoint is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from up to 17 cities across three regions to find out where it breaks.

ChargePoint outage FAQ

Is ChargePoint down or is it just this station?
If status.chargepoint.com shows no Station Connectivity incident, the fault is most likely the single station. Most stations are independently owned, and the owner is responsible for maintenance. Report it in the app: open Chargers, find the station, tap the port, then Report a Problem. ChargePoint says it contacts the owner and helps arrange the repair.
Can I still charge when the ChargePoint app is down?
Usually yes. ChargePoint lists three ways to start a session: Start Charge in the app, Tap to Charge in North America by holding your phone over the station's reader, or tapping an activated ChargePoint card. During a July 2024 app slowdown, ChargePoint said Tap to Charge, RFID cards and contactless credit cards still started sessions. Stations without a screen are usually private and need the card or the app.
Does ChargePoint Home charge without Wi-Fi?
Yes. ChargePoint says that if your Wi-Fi is down or disconnected, ChargePoint Home still charges your car on its schedule, and a charger with no schedule starts as soon as you plug in. To charge sooner than the schedule allows, plug in, unplug and plug back in within a few seconds, and it starts charging right away.
How long do ChargePoint station outages last?
Most last a few hours or less. Recent station reachability drops posted on status.chargepoint.com ran from under 20 minutes in North America in August 2026 to more than 10 hours in Europe in September 2026. In February 2025 about 10,000 European stations connected through the KPN and Mdex carriers stayed unreachable for nearly eight hours before recovering.

How we measure this

  • We request ChargePoint's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where ChargePoint publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
