Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Cash App does

Cash App is a mobile payments and banking app operated by Block, Inc. People use it to send and receive money, spend from a Cash App Card, receive direct deposits, and buy stocks and bitcoin. For many users it functions as a primary account rather than a side wallet, so an outage stops payments and access to balances at the same time.

What an outage looks like

Cash App's status page tracks Send and Receive Money, Cash App Card, Cash App Pay, Direct Deposit, Add Cash, Cash Out, Investing, Bitcoin, Savings, Lending and Log In as separate components. Outages typically hit some and not others: card payments can decline while in-app transfers work, or the app can open with balances visible but transfers failing at the last step.

What to do about it

Check status.cash.app, which reports each function separately, so you can tell whether the problem is transfers, the card or sign-in. Money already sent and confirmed is not lost when the app becomes unreachable. If Cash App Card payments are declining, use a second payment method rather than retrying at the till, since repeated attempts can leave pending authorisations to unwind later.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Cash App is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

Cash App outage FAQ

Is my money safe if Cash App is down?
Balances are not affected by the app being unreachable. An outage stops you seeing or moving money, it does not remove it, and transfers that already completed stay completed. What is genuinely confusing is a transfer submitted just as the outage started, so check the activity feed once service returns rather than resending, which risks paying the same person twice.
Why is my Cash App Card declining when the app works?
Cash App Card is a separate component from Send and Receive Money on Cash App's status page, so card authorisation can fail while the app itself looks healthy. The reverse also happens. If the status page flags Cash App Card specifically, the decline is not about your balance or the merchant, and a second payment method is the fastest way through.
Does a Cash App outage affect direct deposits?
Direct Deposit is tracked as its own component, and a deposit is processed by the banking network rather than inside the app, so a front-end outage does not usually cancel an incoming payment. It can delay when you see it. Check the status page for Direct Deposit specifically, because that component reading operational while others are not means the money is still arriving.
How long do Cash App outages usually last?
Cash App does not publish a target resolution time, and how long an incident lasts depends on which component failed. The status page keeps an incident history alongside 90-day uptime figures, which is the most reliable way to see how the current problem compares with past ones. During an incident the status page is updated well before the app tells you anything.

How we measure this

  • We request Cash App's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Cash App publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
