What Bold Commerce does

Bold Commerce makes apps for Shopify stores, among them Bold Subscriptions, Custom Pricing, Upsell, Bundles, Discounts and Memberships, and offers developers Bold Booster, a customizable checkout it documents for Adobe Commerce and Magento. Merchants use Subscriptions to bill recurring orders and give subscribers a portal to swap, skip or cancel, and the pricing apps decide what shoppers pay at checkout.

What an outage looks like

Merchant admin consoles for Custom Pricing, Upsell, Bundles or Discounts fail to load, as in May 2025. Subscribers adding or swapping products see a no shipping options available error. Reports and bulk actions in Bold Subscriptions stall. PayPal or FastLane payments fail at checkout. Discounted prices from Custom Pricing do not show in checkout. QuickBooks Sync and Xero Sync admin panels return errors.

Will Bold Subscriptions retry recurring orders that failed?

Yes, within your dunning settings. Bold's help center says a failed transaction is retried 1 to 15 times, with a number of days between attempts that you choose, and that by default the subscription is cancelled once the maximum is reached. You can switch that to pause or skip. The docs describe declined cards and missing inventory, so review the Failing payments report after any incident.

Is it Bold or Shopify?

Often Shopify. In September 2025 subscribers got no shipping options available errors when adding or swapping products, and Bold traced the root cause to Shopify's process for returning shipping services; it took about 43 hours to fix. In March 2026 Custom Pricing discounts disappeared from checkout because of a Shopify draft orders issue. Check Shopify's status page alongside Bold's.

Why do PayPal or FastLane payments fail when Bold looks fine?

Payment partners have been the cause. On October 16, 2025 Bold reported degraded PayPal checkout and linked PayPal's own status page, which acknowledged a JavaScript SDK outage. FastLane payment processing failed for about two days from April 7, 2025, and Bold contacted affected merchants directly with steps to fix it. Check the payment provider's status page as well as Bold's Checkout rows.

How long do Bold Commerce incidents usually last?

Many are short, but the long ones run for days. Of the 25 incidents on Bold's status page from January 2024 to March 2026, 11 were resolved within two hours. A checkout outage reported on May 2, 2024 stayed open for about two weeks, and the September 2025 shipping options issue that needed a Shopify fix lasted nearly two days.

Does the check on this page measure Bold's apps?

No. It loads boldcommerce.com, the company website. Bold Subscriptions, Bold Checkout, the Bold Commerce APIs and each pricing app have their own row on status.boldcommerce.com, and incidents usually hit one of them: in August 2025 only the QuickBooks Sync and Xero Sync admin panels were unavailable, for about 90 minutes.

How we measure this

We request Bold Commerce's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — the most recent check ran from 8 of them. A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
