Reachability by region

Each region runs its own request from a different part of the world. A service can be up for one continent and down for another, which is usually the first sign of a routing or CDN problem.

What Apple TV does

Apple TV is Apple's video streaming subscription, home to its original films and series, watched through the Apple TV app on Apple devices, smart TVs and consoles or on the web at tv.apple.com. Apple dropped the plus from Apple TV+ in 2025, so the service now shares its name with both the app and the streaming box.

What an outage looks like

Playback fails to start or stops partway with an error, while browsing the catalogue may still work. Sign-in fails, or the app reports that your subscription cannot be verified. Downloads stall. Because Apple tracks the App Store, Apple Account and Apple TV Channels as separate entries, often only part of the experience breaks: Channels content can fail while Apple originals play.

What to do about it

Apple's System Status page at apple.com/support/systemstatus lists Apple TV and Apple TV Channels as their own entries among 78 services, so read those rather than assuming a general Apple outage. Restart the app or the device first, since local playback faults look identical from the sofa. If sign-in is the symptom, check the Apple Account entry rather than the Apple TV one.

Is it down for everyone, or just you?

If this page says Apple TV is up but it is not loading for you, the problem is between you and them. Run a check against any URL from all 18 regions to find out where it breaks.

Apple TV outage FAQ

Is it Apple TV the service, the app, or the box?
Apple uses the name for all three since dropping the plus from Apple TV+ in 2025. The status page entry called Apple TV refers to the streaming service. The box is hardware and has no status entry of its own, so if only your box fails while a phone or browser plays the same title, the fault is local to that device.
Some shows play and others do not. Why?
Apple TV Channels is a separate entry from Apple TV on the status page. Channels are third-party subscriptions bought through Apple and delivered differently from Apple's own originals, so one can fail while the other works. If everything from a single provider fails while Apple originals play normally, the problem is with that channel rather than with Apple TV.
It says my subscription cannot be verified. Have I lost it?
Almost certainly not. That message usually means an account or entitlement check could not complete, which is a service problem rather than a change to your subscription. Check the Apple Account entry on the status page as well as Apple TV. Avoid resubscribing while an incident is open, since that can create a second charge for access you already hold.
Is it down for everyone or just me?
Check the Apple TV entry on Apple's System Status page, then try a different device on a different network. Apple lists 78 services there and reports them individually, so a healthy Apple TV entry alongside a failure on one device points at that device, its network, or a local cache. Failures across several devices and networks point upstream.

How we measure this

  • We request Apple TV's public endpoint every 6 hours from Fly.io regions across six continents — 8 of them answered the most recent check.
  • A region counts as down only when it gets no usable HTTP response. A 403 or 429 means the origin answered and refused us, which we report as blocked, never as an outage.
  • A single failing region is treated as probe noise. We only change the verdict when two consecutive cycles agree.
  • Response times average only the regions that actually served the page, so a timeout never inflates the number.
  • Where Apple TV publishes an official status feed we read it too. An all-clear from the vendor can soften an unconfirmed degradation; a vendor-declared outage only worsens our verdict when our own checks corroborate it.
