Setting up monitoring for a website usually goes something like this: you create an uptime check, then you manually add content monitors for the things you care about, then you try to remember which third-party services your site depends on so you can track those too. Multiply that by every site you manage, and the setup time alone becomes a project.
We built Smart Setup to skip most of that work.
One URL In, Monitors Out
Smart Setup is a guided flow that starts with your website URL and ends with a full set of monitors — uptime, content, and dependency — created and ready to go. The whole process takes about two minutes.
Here’s how it works: you enter your website URL, and FlareWarden analyzes the site. It looks at the page content, identifies patterns worth monitoring, and discovers third-party services your site relies on. Then it presents everything it found for your review. You approve what you want, remove what you don’t, and Smart Setup creates the monitors.
That’s the whole process.
What It Detects
Smart Setup looks for three categories of things to monitor:
Content patterns. These are elements on your page that indicate whether things are working correctly. For example, your page title, meta description, copyright text, and analytics tags. If your page title disappears after a deployment or your analytics tag stops loading, these monitors catch it. Smart Setup also watches for error messages — if “Internal Server Error” suddenly appears on your homepage, you’ll know.
Connected services. Most websites depend on third-party services — a CDN, an email provider, a payment processor, analytics tools. Smart Setup identifies these by analyzing your site and flags each one it finds. For services that publish public status pages, it can set up dependency monitors so you’ll know when an outage on their end might affect you.
Uptime. The foundation of any monitoring setup. Smart Setup creates a standard uptime check for the URL you provide, at the interval you choose.
You Review Everything First
Smart Setup suggests monitors — it doesn’t create them behind your back. Before anything goes live, you see a full list of what it detected and what it plans to create. Every item is a checkbox you can toggle. Don’t need copyright monitoring? Uncheck it. Want to skip a low-priority dependency? Remove it. Need to adjust a check interval? Change it.
Nothing is created until you review the summary and confirm. If something fails during creation, you can safely retry without duplicating monitors.
The Time Savings Add Up
The value isn’t just convenience on a single site — it’s what happens when you multiply it across many sites. Manually configuring comprehensive monitoring for one website (uptime checks, content monitors, dependency tracking) takes real effort. You need to think through what matters, write the rules, find the status pages for your dependencies, and configure each monitor individually.
Smart Setup compresses that into a two-minute guided flow. For agencies managing dozens of client sites, or teams responsible for multiple properties, the hours saved are significant.
Available on Every Plan
Smart Setup is included in all FlareWarden plans, including the free plan. There’s no upgrade required to use it.
If you’re already using FlareWarden, you’ll find Smart Setup in your dashboard when adding a new monitor. If you’re new, create a free account and try it on your first site.
